Between these classes we have mostly just been working on the fine-tuning parts of the speeches. During our dry run, we were over our time by 1 minute without even having the video clips we wanted to add in. We have a video from Skyler’s mom who is a nurse, and another video from an older nursing major student here at UNE. So, without getting rid of any of the important information, we worked to re-structure our speech. Hopefully now we have all our information within the time we need. Along with this was making sure we all had outlines to make sure we aren’t just reading our papers during the final presentation. I also took some time looking into different filming programs to make sure we do the best we can on our final project.
Since our last class, we’ve completed our outline and have been fine tuning each of our individual parts to make sure everything flows well together. Logan is currently finishing up his final sections, where he shares his personal reasons for choosing the pharmacy program. We’re planning to film the last part of our video this week, and editing is already in progress with the previous parts we’re done. Originally, we were supposed to film during class time on Wednesday, but due to time conflicts, we scheduled for Thursday instead. For the visual setup, we are planning to project an image of a news broadcasting background behind us during filming instead of editing in one. We also want to include the scrolling news text that is always on the bottom of the screen. The commentary section is our filmed part since it will consist of a short summary of our interview with Dr. Vincent, our personal motivations for pursuing pharmacy, and an overview of the process to get a PharmD degree. In addition to this, we will film our outro section, for which Logan has already completed his part.
Since last class me and my group have made great progress on our news cast that we will need to deliver in week’s time. Throughout the week, we continued to polish our outline to ensure that the ideas for clips we had fell in place in a way that made most sense for our project. Along with this, we started filming more of our clips that will belong in the news cast. My current position in our news cast is being the news reporter that is “in the field.” In this past week, this included generating a separate outline or “script” that I had to practice in order to perform in front of the camera. More specifically, we went to the Walgreens again in Biddeford to get some clips in front of the store for our news cast. Now, we are working on Nadia and Isaacs part of the news cast where they go over their personal experiences and why they want to go into the field of pharmacy. Along with this, they go into more detail on what education looks like to get into pharmacy. Overall, our group made lots of progress within the past week, and I am excited for these next few weeks.
What we’ve been working on since the last time we met was basically just running through it again and just making sure that everybody knows what they are going to say during filming. We also planned out what kind of camera equipment that we were going to use for when we film. We also went over how we were going to approach the filming process, figuring out if we wanted the camera to focus in on who is talking and change every time. We decided that we wanted a default wide shot of all of us to come back to. We also decided if we need anybody to come outside our group to help out with the filming. Overall our progress is going very well. We’re just finalizing everything and making sure everything is what we want, adding and removing things if needed.
Since last class we have been working on the actual recording part of our project. Since the dry-dry run we seemed to make some improvements towards the finished project. We were able to make it more like a report while still talking with each other and figuring out a better final structure that we want to work towards. I have been working with my mom to get a video interview from her. This is difficult since I am not there to do it with her. I have made a list of questions for her to answer about what it is like to be a nurse. Brooke offered to do most of the editing, but of course Maxine and I are here and ready to help. Overall I think the three of us worked really well together and we had fun while doing it. We met up together during class time Wednesday to record our video.
What I have been working on since last class has been mostly meeting up with my group and discussing the structure of our presentation and how it will be filmed, what we are going to be saying. what I have being primarily working on is researching my major to provide information to show what my major looks like for the 6-years that I am here. I have also been trying to figure out a time to meet with Dr. Vincent, she has been busy so were still trying to figure out a time to meet. My interview with her isnt going to be very long, maybe 3 questions at max. From the feedback notes that me and my group received after our dry run, some of them were advising us about how adding three interviews from each of us will use a good portion of our presentation time and can take away from us giving our part of the presentation. Another piece of feedback that we received was our excessive use of filler words at some points of our dry run, for me personally I just need to study what I am presenting and make sure I know what I am talking about. I think that since we are not presenting in front of the class I wont feel as nervous so I wont use as many filler words. The next step my group needs to take in our presentation is filming our parts then do the final editing so it is good to present by wednesday.

Since speech 4, we polished up the final script and it is looking good. Then we were able to start recording, this was a bit tricky. We didn’t know exactly where to go for filming spots, as the original spots did not end up happening. For instance, Kiley was going to be filmed in front of the fish tank in the marine science center, but we went after 2pm on Tuesday to film it and there were a lot of people going back and forth as well as open doors to lectures that were going on. So we spent a lot of time trying to find a suitable place, so we just ended up outside, as it was gorgeous outside. For Hayden, we were going to film somewhere in a tree, but there are no climbable trees on campus unfortunately we just thought it was going to be funny to have him in a tree, I don’t know, but we ended up filming at the rocks behind the marine science center. With Tucker, we were going to film on the dock out by Jordans point, but unfortunately that dock has been locked up since it got back last week. The actual filming part was fun though, we had a great time and also changed a lot of our lines during it, because it just seemed easier in the moment to remember. We also came up with things that we thought were funny to add in, but some lines were so incredibly hard to memorize. My closing line was the hardest part of filming, as we had to retake it over 80 times, it was difficult. However, it was very fun to mess around and film this for class! Hayden and Kiley are now working on doing the editing portion of the project.
For speech 4, my group and I have been working on a lot. First, after our dry-run, we were a little over the time we should have been at, without having our supplemental videos added yet. Once we got the videos, we were able to establish just how much time they would take up and how much we needed to restructure our speech. I also worked on putting together a speaking outline. I turned our draft into bullet points for my speaking parts to use during filming the final video. Once we all had finalized our parts and where we wanted to insert our supplemental videos, we got together to film the final video. The only editing to be done was to insert the videos and after that was done we were finished.
We are wrapped up our final touches with our project and are ready to show it to the class. The first think we started doing was taking in any feedback received from the dry run speech and put it into a list of both the good and bad to effectively get the best video we could get. Not much was changed within our delivery and the idea how we changed some of the focuses and added more of the interviews in instead of one question. We then figured out a time to meet to record all the clips needed for the video and during then some other ideas sparked which made the video better overall. Our only two challenges came with the editing portion. The clap to help match the sound waves of the phone mic to the video didn’t pick up on a few of our outside videos which made editing it a hassle due mainly having to sink up the video and audio. The other challenge was when the intro and outro were broken up, Lawsons head is lightly cut off in the outro even though it is the same video from the intro. Overall, the video looks great, and we capture a great story throughout.
Since last class, the first thing we had to work on was how to translate our script into an actual video. We met up to record our video and had someone help us film it so it wasn’t just a stationary video. And I filmed the other section on my own before sending them over to Aiko to edit. The whole video also had to be edited in the time from our last class. This included editing all of the parts together and cutting out pieces we didn’t need. However, before filming, we had to go over our dry-run from two weeks ago to see what went well and make any final adjustments to the speech we needed to. We were really happy with the way the “panel” portion of our talk show came out so we wanted to get that down on paper. We also had to discuss what we were going to do for the additional segments we wanted to do. However, after realizing that the “panel” portion took up more than 7 minutes on its own, we realized there would only be space for one short segment so we had to decide what we wanted to do for that. We then encountered issues with filming that and had to do something different than what we originally planned. In the end it all worked out and I am happy with how the project turned out.
We didn’t really need to change much since the dry run, we felt that the content of the speech was pretty good, we just did one minor shuffling of the speech itself. Unfortunately we were not able to rent out the recording studio and so we were forced to come up with something else. I figured we could just record somewhere else and Kayleigh helped us procure recording equipment as well as guiding us through how we should set up the recordings. We’ve gotten everything recorded now so now it’s just a matter of editing it together. Overall, I feel good about this.
Since our last class, the main assignment was figuring out how to make our script into an actual video. We all met up to record the project and had someone assist with filming so that the video was not static or two-dimensional. All of this had to be edited within the short time frame since our last class and now, such as splicing different parts together and eliminating anything unnecessary. We did all go back before we even started recording, though, to take a look at our two-week-old dry-run and see what we did right and make final changes to the script. We were especially satisfied with the way the “panel” section of our talk show turned out, so we got that piece solidified and got it written down on paper . We also needed to work out what to do with the extra bits we had originally intended to include. But when we worked out the panel section itself was over seven minutes long, we knew we only had space for one very brief extra section. There was a bit of debate about what to include, but after discussing it, we made our decision, and then encountered some problems when shooting and had to change our initial plan.
Since last class we have worked on refining the details of our project. We then began recording, which was a bit of a trial and error, but it worked out well. I had a lot of fun recording as well. Hayden did most of the editing, which he did a great job on. I feel really good about this project, I think it went really well.
Since last class, we finished the project, which was a lot more than what we had before. We met up during the week that we didn’t have class in person and finalized more of the script so that we could rehearse what we knew we would say before we actually started filming. This definitely made editing a whole lot easier and quicker since we got the bulk of the interview in one take. After filming, I uploaded everything to iMovie and edited everything together in the way that we wanted. It also helped that I had prior experience in video production. Thankfully it only took me a few hours to edit all the parts, although there are some that look like their clipped awkwardly, but that was from using different takes for the same section.
