Throughout this week me and my partner, Kiera met up together on Monday the 29th to rehearse our speech. We went into one of the private rooms on the 2nd floor of the Commons to practice out loud. I found this to be very beneficial, and we even go to practice the origami step by step. Doing this also helped me memorize the process and being able to perform better. We even were able to put our slide show up on the tv and go through as if it was the final. We also talked on Instagram about materials and meeting times. A challenge I faced was learning the proper way to make a crane origami without struggle. My partner, Kiera did help me with getting familiar with acknowledging different ways to create this piece. This was an overall successful part for me. With her help, the use of pictures, and videos I am able to get down the origami crane procedure.
This week Giselle and I gathered all of the necessary materials and assembled 17 individual bracelet sets, ensuring that each classmate received one. We also finalized our slideshow and added the finishing details into our presentation. We added more pictures to the slideshow and made sure the steps were clear and easy to follow along too. We have been texting and getting together to work on our project together in person. The process of cutting the strings and tying the knots for each bracelet proved to be quite time-intensive; however, we managed the workload successfully. Fortunately, no significant challenges came across during this stage of the project. Overall, we demonstrated strong communication skills and completed our tasks in a timely and organized manner. We are both prepared to present this speech and teach everyone how to make a simple friendship bracelet.
Maddie and I have been practicing our speech this last week, and we have also received our string in the mail. We have cut all of our string to size and tied them all together to start the bracelets for everyone. It took way longer than expected, and it was difficult for us to find a time when we could both come together to do the string part of our presentation. We got it all done and are prepared for our speech, and we are going to let everyone pick their color scheme from the color templates we made. Picking out the colors for our color scheme was surprisingly difficult as well.
I believe that we are well prepared for our speech, and I’m excited to show everyone how to make bracelets. In this time, I have also been learning how to make friendship bracelets, and it was very difficult at first, but I picked it up pretty quickly. It is actually really fun, and I hope everyone will enjoy it as much as I do. We have also been practicing our presentation part of our speech, and I think it will go well. I am nervous about actually giving the presentation, but I believe that it will be good.
Hana and I have been staying in consistent communication and have been updating each other on potential changes we want to add or make to our slideshow and speech. We met on Tuesday and discussed how we want to make more eye contact and keep the classroom more engaged while we’re speaking due to our complicated and specific steps on making the paper airplane. We rehearsed our speech and feel as if we’re in a great spot for Wednesday. We have all our materials ready for the class and there’s plenty of material for re try’s if you mess up or need extra assistance. We also discussed about not rushing through our slides and really talking the class through them. We both agreed it’s easy to rush when we’re nervous or stressed out so we’re gonna make it a key to communicate effectively and efficiently. Our basic structure for this speech will have Hana making the plane, while we each run through the steps, prior to giving out directions I’ll pass out paper and go around assisting people that are struggling. Having Hana demonstrate slowly in front of the class should help alleviate issues too if anybody’s confused on a specific step too. We have confidence in our speech and we’re mainly excited to compete after class too!
In the course of the past week, my partner Norah and I have been making the final preparations for our second speech: teaching a skill. Our topic is on how to make bagged ice cream, especially at your own convenience. For this specific project, it was important to work hands on and with each other so that we can put all the ingredients and supplies together in order to create a fulfilling project. We have met up in person and have also talked over the phone to go over the final preparations for the project. While we were together, I think a challenge we might have been facing was actually delivering the speech. Meaning, trying not to use spacer words or hand gestures and body movement that can be distracting for the audience. To overcome this challenge, we have been taking our time and making sure we go slow, and instead of stuttering, we take pauses and collect ourselves so that we give clear instructions. A success that we found while practicing our speech was that it actually works. With the right research and materials we successfully know how to teach and present to others, how to make bagged ice cream.

This past week, Gabe and I worked on improving our time management and eye contact for our speech. We communicated both in class and through quick check-ins outside of class to stay on the same page. One challenge we faced was balancing our speaking time, but we fixed this by adjusting our points so each of us had a fair share. Another challenge was building confidence with eye contact, which I practiced by looking up more often instead of relying on notes. Along the way, we’ve had successes, like smoother transitions, better pacing, and stronger delivery. Overall, we feel more confident and prepared for our presentation on Wednesday.
Since last class, Madison and I have been working on finalizing our speech and presentation. Madison and I have met each week of this project on Tuesdays to make sure we are on the same page and have properly prepared what is necessary. This week I purchased the ingredients we needed and Madison worked on finalizing our slide show. We actually tested our project and we were very satisfied with the results, we did learn that we did not use enough vanilla the first run, so we learned that we needed to change those measurements. We prepped the ingredients to bring to class for a smooth process without having to buy a ton of measuring utensils for everyone to use. We did another dry run of our presentation and landed at about 4 minutes, so we need to speak slower and take our time. Madison and I are going to rehearse before class again, but we believe that when we are actually doing the project live in front of the class it will take longer. I am worried about getting anxious and using filler words, or fidgeting during the presentation, but I am going to continue to rehearse.
Last class, Grace and I were able to do our dry run, which helped significantly. Now, the week following, we have been working on finalizing our speech. The main things we have been focusing on are delivery; this was our primary struggle during our dry run, and we have now hopefully gotten it down. We also cleaned up the slides a little bit to make them flow better. Outside of meeting, we have both been working separately on the delivery. We haven’t run into any problems yet, so that’s always nice. I think both Grace and I are on the same page, and we are ready to present out speech.
This week, my partner and I met a couple times this week to really gather our thoughts and direct the ways we are going to perform on Wednesday. As we watched our reflection video there were many things we had to work on, but that only gave us more excitement to perform. Overall, we’re ready to deliver the presentation today. We feel confident that we can clearly communicate the importance of self-defense and keep our classmates engaged. After practicing, we’re excited to share what we’ve learned and demonstrate some useful techniques. We’re looking forward to a successful presentation and the opportunity to inspire others to be more aware and prepared.
This past week me and my partner have been working on how we are going to present to the class and have been working in person. We also made sure to get the rest of our necessary products and props that we will need for our speech. This included glue, false lashes, and makeup remover. There haven’t been many challenges this week other than just working on cleaning things up to do better and improve. I think our success is cleaning up how we are presenting and do overall better this final round of speech.
Over the past week, we have worked on printing out handouts, preparing the activities, and delivering the speech itself. We met shortly and solidified how we will deliver the speech, who will have the PowerPoint/handouts, and who will deliver what. We fixed the slideshow so that it should work when we actually present. We both feel confident about our speech, as it flows smoothly and makes sense logistically. I am worried I will have problems with the reel and will have to spool it by hand, but I have practiced many times and hope it will not be an issue.
Throughout this past week, me and my partner met up a couple of times and worked on perfecting our slides, making them more organized and easy to follow along with. We also met the requirements for the assignment, which included posting our dry-run video to my partner’s YouTube channel, printing out our outline, and taking the feedback we received in class into account. We also spent some time saying and practicing the words in our presentation and the delivery of them. We watched over our dry-run video and read over our feedback, taking everything into account in order to improve our speech for the final run. Along with that, we took mental notes on other people’s presentations and noticed what was working or what wasn’t for them. I believe that doing so helped prepare us better by seeing the overall project from a different perspective. Apart from all of this, we also took the time to just speak about our project in general – whether it be in-person, on FaceTime, or over text – we talked about the project and the outcome that we hope to receive at the end of this project. Overall, the time we spent working on this project together has better prepared us for our final delivery.
This past week, my partner and I have been practicing our speech on how to make a balloon dog, especially getting ready for the real run. After my dry run where I had to do the speech alone because my partner was out sick, we’ve been working together outside of class to improve and prepare for the next time.
We’ve been communicating mostly through texting and video calls to plan how to split the parts and make sure everything flows smoothly, but also in person. One challenge we’re working on is coordinating the demo so the balloon twisting goes without a hitch. The dry run was tough since the balloon popped before I started, and I had to do it solo, but that helped me figure out where I need to improve.
Now practicing together is making a big difference. We’re supporting each other and making the explanations clearer and more natural. I feel more confident knowing we’re both ready and I think our teamwork is a big success this week. We’re definitely better prepared for the final speech after what I learned from doing it alone.
This past week, I’ve been focusing on getting more comfortable with the content of our Speech 2 project and making sure my part flows well with my partner’s section. A lot of my time has gone into practicing transitions, since I don’t want it to sound like two separate speeches. I’ve also been paying attention to pacing because I tend to rush when I get nervous.
I’ve been communicating with my partner mostly through text and FaceTime. Since we don’t always have the same free time, it’s been easier to check in that way and share updates on what we’re working on. We’ve also sent each other drafts and small voice recordings to hear how our parts sound out loud, which has been really helpful.
One challenge we’ve run into is scheduling time to actually practice together in person. Between classes and work, it’s been tricky. To get around that, we decided to record ourselves individually, then share the videos so we can give each other feedback. That’s made things a lot smoother.
A success so far is that our speeches are starting to feel more natural together. I’m proud that even though scheduling has been tough, we’ve managed to stay on track and keep good communication.
Through this week me and my partner lilian have been staying in consistent communication to see what we could change or what we could do to make the presentation better. We made sure to check in with each other often and share our thoughts and ideas so that both of us felt included in the process. As well we made sure to gather all the essentials we will be using for the final presentation, such as the materials, props, and slides that will help us present more clearly. By dividing responsibilities and making sure each of us followed through, we were able to stay organized and make steady progress.
