  1. For speech four, my group and I have been meeting after class to get ahead on our project. We met last night to watch through the dry-dry-run, see what we wanted to fix and change, and then we went forward to highlight the specific changes. The first change we made was adding in general questions about the dental hygiene program like, “how many credits does it entail, what are some successes and failures, what are the requirements”, and some other questions as well. After we answered these. We read over the outline and timed ourselves to see where we are with the timing, and we were a little over 7 minutes so that was another thing we had to change. We cut down the outline to be more focused and driven to the questions itself as the main idea to our talkshow. We read it out loud again as a group and made it to about 5 minutes and 30 seconds. After working as a group, we each decided to make our own outlines to figure out what we were individually going to say tomorrow during the dry-run.

  2. Since last class, I have been focusing on tightening and preparing my Speech 4 presentation. The main task has been shortening my speech by cutting out unnecessary words, repetitive phrases, and sections that didn’t directly support my main points. After reviewing our outline and practicing aloud, I realized that some parts were too long and would make the final recording feel rushed. By trimming the speech, it now flows more clearly and fits better within the time limit.

My group and I have also planned out the next step in our process. We decided that we will record our speech after class on Wednesday, giving us time to finalize our edits and practice delivery beforehand. Our goal is to complete the recording so we can begin working on the final video, which we want to have finished and ready to submit right after break. Overall, we’ve been focusing on refining our content, organizing our recording schedule, and making sure we stay on track with the upcoming deadlines.

  3. When working on Speech 4, we managed to improve our speech by adding details. Whether this was involving interview questions or how I feel about becoming a hygienist. We made more of a clear outline with different topics to inform the audience in our talk show. Fortunately, I was able to reach out and get to interview a former hygienist here at UNE to speak to. With her generosity, I do think this will add more quality to the show. It’s important to get a different perspective on something I have never experienced. By her informing our class what to expect it may make an eye-opening realization of what being a hygienist really is. Some days it will be easier than others. Me and Kiera also talked about our script change since last class and how the formatting should be. After watching some of the videos from previous years we brought up what we liked and disliked. By acknowledging this, we started to brainstorm a plan that can be our own. Being able to watch other projects gave us a couple of ideas. We talked about how we should video, where, sound and editing. We did already have an idea for the script, but it was nice to get an idea of the structure of our project.

  4. For speech four, my group and I have been working hard on our script and it currently fits the time limit perfectly. The only major part we still need to add is the conclusion. Right now, we’re focusing on finalizing the script so we can move on to filming the video soon. Our ideas are strong and well-organized, but we want to review the script a few more times either in class or during the next dry run to make sure everything flows smoothly and to see if there’s anything we should add, remove, or adjust. We also want to check for any spots where we might need clearer wording or better transitions. We plan to start filming as soon as possible so that after break we aren’t scrambling or cramming everything in at the last minute. Starting early will give us more time to edit, practice, and make sure our final video looks polished and professional.

  5. Since our last class my partner and I saw areas where we needed to fix or work on after seeing where everyone else was at. We knew we had the ideas there just needed to act on them. We worked on making our script and although it’s not exactly where we want it, it’s getting there. We had also worked on forming our speech and making out our outline. My partner and I met today to see where we were at and what we can do next to perform our speech in class today. Hoping it would be better and more productive than last class. I am happy I am partnered with evelynn because she is willing to meet at any time and is willing to do whatever is needed. Overall since our last class we are excited to share our improvements and the areas we fixed.

  6. To improve our speech we have been working on trying to answer the questions more about us personally rather then the school and the major. We also have been working on making sure our answers reflect more on us rather then sounding performative and reading off a script so that it has that talk show host feeling of it being like a conversation. We also having been working on our organization of our speech such as revising What questions should go after another to make it have more of a flow and not as choppy. This will also help us to give more of a conversation feel and more talk show that we are trying to accomplish. Finally we have been reviewing our script to make sure it all fits together and getting our points heard as well. I think we ar eon the right track and it is coming together well.

  7. For speech four, my group has been meeting outside of class time to work on our project and made sure that everything is organized. On Monday night we met and my group let me know everything that happened during the last class time because I wasn’t there. We over the dry dry run and script to see what we needed to edit and improve so our presentation would flow better. The first change we made was adding more general questions about the dental hygiene program and taking the time to answer them clearly. After this we read over the outline to see if we didn’t go over the 7 minute time limit. We noticed we were going a little over, which made us rearrange a few things on the outline to make it fit better. We made sure to reread it out loud one more time to check our timing and make sure everything sounded smooth. We made sure to reread it out loud again to see our timing. After that we decided to do our own outline to see what each one of us was going to say individually. This helped us divide the parts evenly and understand our roles better for the final speech.

  8. Me and my partner had a good base but wanted to refine and prefect the flow and details of the script. We decided who we wanted to interview and we reached out to try and get a zoom call with them. We talked about details of where we want to film and what props we might need. With the interview we can see a real experienced professionals opinion, this can help drive home the idea of dental hygiene and what it’s about. We are trying to ask out of the box questions as well as real questions that people might actually have. With our skit at the end it might help give some entertainment while still relating to the topic of why we chose dental hygiene, and it can give the viewer a positve spin on the job that might make them more interested.

  9. Since last class, when we did our dry-dry run in class, I have been working on practicing my lines for the speech. Our group has also been practicing together. I have been trying to memorize my words instead of just reading off my paper. We are prepared to give our dry run in class, and I am glad we are getting time to huddle up before we actually give the dry run in class. I think that we need to prepare what we are doing for our speech and where we are going to film it, and how we are going to film it. I think the information that we are speaking about is very good, and I believe our video will go very well. I hope that the class enjoys it and finds our programs interesting.

  10. It was a struggle to meet this week because both Gabe and I were out. However, we made it work and met and it’s coming together really well. We did a dry run and worked together for over two hours working out the kinks. We are planning on filming in the next couple of weeks. Good times.

  11. Since last class, our group has been thinking of more questions and variation in the way we answer our questions. We met in person today to figure out how our order of questions, and cut out some questions that either sounded repetitive or would take too long to explain . We have a nice set of questions that should be informative, and also be entertaining to our audience. our group also dealt with some hardships as Nick and myself both missed last class, so we we’re a little behind to begin this week, but we made a very good recovery and got together for an extended period of time to help shape our project, and the roles each of us have within the project too. So far, this week has been our most productive week of work and effort so far.

  12. Since our last class, I’ve mainly been polishing and tightening my Speech 4 presentation. Most of my work has been cutting out filler, repeated ideas, and anything that didn’t actually support my main argument. After going over the outline and practicing out loud, I realized certain sections dragged on and would make the recording feel rushed. After trimming everything down, the speech flows much better and now fits comfortably within the time limit.
My group also mapped out our next steps. We agreed to record the speech after class on Wednesday so we have enough time to finalize edits and rehearse beforehand. Our plan is to get the recording done so we can immediately start putting together the final video, which we want finished and ready to submit right after break. Overall, we’ve been focused on tightening our content, coordinating our recording timeline, and making sure we stay on track with all the upcoming deadlines.

  13. Since last class, my group and I met to collaborate and work on our speech 4 project. We set up a time for us to meet together in the commons, and planned to add more bulk and structure to our project. At the meeting, we discussed our individual ideas considering what our next step was, and what we worked on since our last meeting and last class. We realized we were missing some important accurate information, which we worked on shaping up, and saved the remainder to do on our own after. We adjusted our lines to be less wordy, so they would be easier to remember when it came time to record. Once our adjustments were stable, we took a chunk of time to rehearse for the dry run, and practiced several times, adjusting things as we went. At the end of the meeting we picked a time to meet and record which we really wanted to get done before break.
