  1. For Speech 4, my group and I have been developing our talk show project called 🎙️The Tooth Booth. Since last class, we’ve finalized our outline and started shaping it into a fun, conversational script. I’m the host, and Abby and Sydney are my guests. Our goal is to make the show entertaining while still teaching our audience about dental hygiene at UNE. We’ve organized it into five segments starting with an upbeat introduction, moving through what dental hygiene really involves, the challenges we face, and why we chose this major. We’re also ending with a funny “Tooth Truth Lightning Round” to keep things engaging. Overall, we’ve focused on making the show informative but still full of humor and personality to match the talk show vibe.

  2. For Speech 4, my partner Kiera and I started working on an outline for our upcoming class. We talked about how we were going to video and add some funny parts into the “talk show.” We mentioned the different characters we will play and how to incorporate a longer video. We included an informative piece on exactly what a dental hygienist does day to day. Plus, a student interview, and hopefully a patient’s point of view. To get a full understanding of dentistry, we spoke on different types of jobs in this field. Not only just a dental hygienist, but a dentist, and a dental assistant. An office cannot just run with just one employee as a dental hygienist. As most of this class will get to know, becoming a dental hygienist is not an easy path. We brought up some of the academic stand points, and prerequisites. Comparing the Portland campus to the Biddeford campus as well. One of our biggest worries is timing because on our last project we went way over the time limit. Honestly so far, I do think we have a good standing; we got a lot done with the speech portion.

  3. For speech 4, Giselle, Lillian and I all got together on tuesday to work on our script. We talked about the set up and came up with questions and responses to those questions. We are having Lillian as the host and Giselle and I will be answering the questions that she asks us. We have an introduction of Lillian introducing the careers and then introduces each one of us to the talk show. For the first question we describe how are personalities fits into each of our major (dental hygiene and psychology). We then talk about some of the similarities and differences between our majors and then we talk about mentally vs. physically and why we think that fits us as a person and this reflects back to our personality’s. Overall I think we are in a good place and on track for this speech.

  4. For speech 4, my group and I have got together to really start planning the project. We both have combined all of our ideas together, and we decided to create a talkshow. We each will have our own segments in the talkshow, and we will discuss some of the benefits of being a dental hygienist and some dental facts as well. To play along with this, we will also be doing this talkshow as UNE dental hygiene students and we are going to go through the steps and progressions we have gone through to get to where we want to be in the future. So far, the three of us have been working on our scripts so that we are ready for the dry-dry run next class. I think that the script could use some editing, but for the time being we just need to get back together again to make the outline and speech to its best ability.

  5. Our group has discussed doing a table talk about our majors. My partners are grace and Nick. We haven’t had much planning, but our main focus is to have broad questions that anyone could answer about school, workload, amount of credits needed etc… Our objective is to enlighten people who may not be sure about what they want to do and get further information on specific majors and the ins and outs of how they work. I think as far as progress we need to put a little more time into formulating some solid questions we all agree on, but so far we have a good idea that will be beneficial to the audience.

  6. My group met on Tuesday to discuss our ideas and project. We were able to fix our ideas and target it to be more about how we feel like we fit into our majors. We mainly focused on questions we want to ask and our responses as well. With this style of questions and answering in conversation we decided to do a talk show. This led to us also deciding who is going to be what part as well when we met. I decided to be the host of our talk show and asking questions to carry on the conversation. I think we revised out ideas from last class and is leading us down the right track.

  7. Lillian, Maddie, and I have been working on our speech 4 together. We met up in the commons and made our rough draft script/outline for our dry-dry run next class. It was semi-difficult to find a time to come together and decide what exactly we wanted to do, but we figured it out and got most of our topics written down. I think we’re ready for our dry-dry run today, and I’m excited to get feedback to see what we can improve on. It was a little difficult figuring out how I’m going to convey what I want to say because I switched majors, but I am very passionate about my new major, and I am excited to talk about it with the class.

  8. For Speech 4, my partner and I have been communicating and combining our ideas to create a clear theme for our presentation. We work really well together and share many of the same ideas, so I’m hopeful that everything will come together smoothly. Some of our brainstorming sessions have focused on developing a meaningful talk show concept, where we’ll feature a “special guest.” During the show, we plan to interview one another by asking both dental hygiene related questions and more personal ones, such as “Who or what led you toward dental hygiene?” and similar topics. Overall, I am very excited to continue this project and see the end result continue to grow.

  9. For Jayden and I’s Speech, we decided to do a talk show called “Brush Hour”. In our talk show, we are going to be interviewing one another about dental hygiene and the things/events that inspired us to take the path that we did. We are also planning to potentially have a “special guest”, a trivia section, and even a dental hygiene related commercial break. With all of these concepts and potential ideas planned out, I’m hoping that our speech will go smoothly and be entertaining for the class to watch. I’m also glad to be working with somebody that I work very well with, as we share a lot of similar ideas and are easily able to connect.

  10. Since last class, my group Hana, Sydney, and have really just been focusing on developing and refining the script for our talk show style speech about dental hygiene. We spent time organizing the order of the segments so the information flows naturally, starting with an introduction to the topic, then moving into common dental care mistakes, and ending with helpful tips and audience takeaways. We also worked on dividing up the speaking parts evenly so that everyone has a clear role and gets a fair amount of time to talk. I think we’ve been improving our transitions to make the dialogue sound more conversational and realistic, just like an actual talk show. We added a few fun questions and funny comments to make it feel more engaging and less like a traditional speech. Since last class we’ve also focused on making sure our facts about dental hygiene are accurate and easy to understand for the audience. Overall our main goal this past week has been to polish the script so that next time we can focus more on practicing delivery, timing, and interaction between us as hosts.

  11. For our start on speech #4 my group decided to do a talk show style speech. We are all in the Dental Hygiene major and wanted to do something informational, fun, and simple. We met up Monday night this week and worked on our outline and general script. Everything seems to be progressing pretty well and flowing nicely. We all have incorporated our ideas to make the project fit the requirements but also stay true to our major and goals. The funny bits have come easily to us and we are going to use our acting skills. We plan to work on our own outside of class to make everything perfect for each of our parts, and meet up soon again to rehearse and work together.

  12. For speech 4, me and my group have been working on developing our talk show that is called Tooth Talk. Our group met on Monday night and we started working on the outline and script to work off of for the next dry- dry run in the next class. Me and my group decided that I’m going to be the host and Norah and Madison are going to be my guest. We are all in the dental hygiene major which makes everything more simple and easier to agree on. Everything seems to be working out well together and we will meet soon again to start talking about the topic more in depth and about the editing part.

  13. Since last class we have spent lots of time independently working and answering questions we drafted during the last class. We have made lots of progress with our general ideas for how we want the project to go. We’ve been mainly working on researching our majors and career goals so we are able to fully explain in our speech and make our discussion meaningful. We are going to meet in person ASAP so that we have a solid plan moving forward.

  14. This week me and my partner meet up and talked about what we might want to include in our presentation as well as the flow of it. Before this we talked about what type of speech we wanted to do and picked the talk show. We worked on developing characters and ideas, then creating a script and who would do what. She came up with a interview for a professional and I came up with a skit idea that will be SNL style. We both continued to work on all the information we wanted to include in the speech and where we want to film as well as how. I looked for some editing platforms that will help execute the style of video we want.

  15. For Speech 4, my group and I have been working on our talk-show project called The Tooth Booth. Since last class, we finalized our outline and started turning it into a more laid-back, conversational script. Hana is the host, and Abby and I are the guests. Our goal is to keep the show entertaining while still giving helpful info about what dental hygiene is like at UNE.
We broke the show into five parts, starting with a fun intro, then talking about what the major actually involves, some of the challenges we deal with, and why we chose dental hygiene in the first place. We’re ending with a silly “Tooth Truth Lightning Round” to keep things light and engaging. Overall, we’ve been focusing on making the project informative but still full of personality so it actually feels like a real talk show.
