  1. This week we have been taking all of the feedback that we got from the class about our dry run and reworking the set up of the speech and how long it is. We felt like once we presented in front of the class we were able to get a much better idea of how the speech presented in front of people and how we needed to adjust it to have a better flow when performed live. Even though we are just filming it to show the class we wanted to make sure that we would theoretically be able to give a very similar performance if we were giving it live. So we went back and reworked the format so that we presented most of the same information but in a more conversational format, taking notes from the class and their presentations by having more of a host/guest set up. We also got rid of some of the extra information that we realized we wouldn’t need in order to get our main points across so that we would have more time for making the presentation more engaging without losing any key information.

  2. This week we worked on finalizing our script in the google doc and practicing our own parts. We used the feedback we got from our dry run in class to shorten our speech and fix some stuff that seemed repetitive. I think the biggest thing we have to look at is our time and making sure we add some good details about our majors so it’s more focused on the majors rather than our sports, although our sports do help us convey a lot about why people may become Athletic trainers or Nutritionists and the futures they have. We also went back through and reshaped our answers a little. Frankie was able to interview Emily Estelle this week for the interview part of our project. We are going to start recording this week and then hopefully get everything done by the end of the week.

  3. Over the past week, my group met to make some changes to our project based on the feedback we received. During the dry run in class, some of the feedback we got was that there was some confusion about whether or not there was a host and that it felt scripted. One of our main goals for this project is to make sure that it’s conversational and engaging, so we took the feedback and made some changes to the structure. We wanted to keep the two segments with an ad, but we changed it so that Sarah and I are co-hosts who are individually interviewing Lily and Alyssa. We thought it would make it more conversational as we could bounce ideas off each other. We also decided that we thought it was a good idea to switch up the questions so that they all didn’t sound the same and cut out some information so that it would fit in the time allotted. We organized a time to meet this coming week to record and edit it so that we will have plenty of time. I think the result of this project will come together nicely!

  4. Over the past week, we really focused on narrowing down our script to exactly what we wanted but leaving room for our unscripted moments. Kiera was able to get some microphones she had at home and her graduation gown and cap so we can take our fake grad photos. Tomorrow will be our big work day where we record everything and get all the photos and interviews we need. I’m excited to get this done because then all we have left is putting it all together. I think one of the most important things is going to be making sure our scenery is good and convincing, our audio is even, we fit everything in within the time limit, and we sound unscripted enough. I think once we record all this it should all fit together really well and the only hard parts will be edits and making sure it is seamless. I think this coming week will be a big push to make sure everything is done well and correctly. I know I am really happy with our script and I have high hopes for this project. I just pray we don’t get any issues alone the way and I hope it works as well as I imagine.

  5. So since last week, what me and my group have been working on is actually filming and editing our project and making sure we take into consideration the notes we received from our dry run. I personally am also working on ensuring my Speech 4 page is up to date and includes everything it needs to include. What our group did was we went to the Marcil classroom after hours and set up a presentable set right outside of the room. We tested our camera and we made sure that we answered one at a time, we included a segment in between all of the interviews, we made sure we had good energy and nice senses of humor, and furthermore, we made sure that we added things to our dry run to make it seem like a show and give it that late night feel. We filmed about two takes and we were thinking of including an outtake segment at the end. Plus, we improvised many lines when a ‘mistake’ was made to give it more humor and make it seem more real. We were able to stay in a proper time period and now we have to edit it down. We aren’t sure whether to do handmade effects or practical signs or to do CGI edited things, but we have been talking and our overall material is solid, but it just needs polishing. I think we are looking really solid and I am really excited for everyone to see this.

  6. Over the past week we have been working on filming pieces of our project and interviewing more people. We have been working on piecing together the project and fitting things in. as we were filming we decided to change some of the scripted lines slightly as it fit better into our video. We have also been working on editing and making sure our speech fits into the time frame allotted. We have all pooled together ideas of how we wanted the finished piece to look and what effects we wanted it to have. After we were done filming each individual piece, Josephine worked on editing and putting the videos together using iMovie, since she has more experience with editing. One challenge we faced was adjusting the audio, we got mini microphones to help keep the audio in each clip consistent however some of our filming was outside and some was inside so there was still some variability with the clips that we had to adjust in the editing process.

  7. This week we have done a lot of work on our project. After hearing the feedback on our dry run we were able to add some parts as well as take some out to avoid repetitiveness and have a little bit more information on our majors. I was able to get the interview done with Emily Estell so that we could base some more information on what she said in the interview. We also worked on practicing our lines before the filming of the talk show. On Wednesday we met and filmed our project. We finished all of the key parts of it. While filming we realized we wanted multiple shots of the talk show so we decided to film on three separate devices. I think this is going to add a lot to our project and I’m excited to see how it will turn out after the editing is finished!

  8. Since the last class, my group has been very productive. First, we collaborated and worked out the kinks in our final speech script. This was essential to the final outcome of our speech. We all had very important ideas and I think the script came out very well. Since our dry run came in short on timing, we had to think of new ideas/add on to our script. What we added on fit well with what we had prior and it was not repetitive. Then we met during our class time to film the majority of the speech. With a proper script, we could do this with ease. Then we filmed the interviews. Our interviews came out very well, thanks Kassidy for taking a hold of those. Lastly, our speech was edited and put together into one news broadcast. This would have not been possible without Casey’s editing skills so props to him for that. I think this final speech came out very well and I am proud of the final outcome.

  9. Since last class, my group was able to finish and edit the script to the point where all of us love the ideas. It’s believed that our script isn’t to funny or too informational but it’s also very creative and will hopefully bring a smile and giggle to people’s faces. We also were able to film each segment as a group as well interviewed people for another segment that we are putting into the project. Currently, I am working on editing the project and trying to make each transition to each clip clean and simple, as well as adding some funnier sound effects into the video as well.

  10. Since the last class, my group has met to start working on editing the speech to make it flow better. We decided we wanted to change a few things about the speech regarding the structure of the speech based on the feedback that we received. We decided to change who was the host and who was going to interview each other. This helped us make the speech more clear and not too much information so it is easier to follow. We then started to work on filming the speech. We got to meet on Wednesday, where we filmed all our clips. We did multiple tries to make sure that all the clips would fit and flow properly. I feel very confident in the videos we got, we thought very hard about where exactly we wanted to record to make it look the best. After filming, I started to work on editing the videos we taken to put them together. I started to focus on adding sound effects that add to the video but are not too much. I am trying to make the video come out nicely, so people are entertained and I think it is coming along very well.

  11. We have been working on filming all of our interviews as well as meeting and filming our own parts. We had to work on finding where the news station was going to be. We wanted to find a time to meet where we could film most of our parts in one day so we had to discuss a time that would be best for all three of us. As we were filming we changed some of the lines that we planned to say to make it flow nicely. Once we were done filming all of the clips, Josephine worked on editing them together as she has experience with that. Although she was the editor, we were able to collaborate with our ideas on how we wanted the final video to look. The only challenge we ran into was adjusting the audio but we were able to get microphones to help with that but in some parts it still sounded a little different and we tried to adjust accordingly. Overall, I am really proud of the way our project turned out in the end.

  12. Last week, my group and I focused on filming and editing our project, taking into account feedback from our dry run. Personally, I’ve been try to make sure I do my best in the speech 4 project and also I am just updating my Speech 4 page. We set up a nice filming area outside the Marcil classroom after hours, tested the camera, and made sure everyone took turns speaking. We added segments between interviews, kept up good energy and humor, and made it feel like a late-night show. We filmed a couple of takes and might include bloopers at the end. We also added some improvised lines for humor. Now, we just need to edit it down. We’re not sure yet that what type of editing we need to do but we will do something cool. Overall, our material is strong, but it needs some fine-tuning. I’m really excited for everyone to see it!

  13. Since our last class our group has met up and finalized our script, so we were ready to go when filming time came. We then used class time last Wednesday to get together and set up our news cast in an empty classroom and Kassidy worked the teleprompter for me and Stella while we recorded ourselves as news casters. Then Kassidy recorded herself interviewing people as a reporter about their major for the final piece of the project. Lastly, I used DaVinci resolve to edit our project together.

  14. Journal 18
Since last class me and my partner have done a lot. We have gotten together a few times and we finally got done all of our videos that we needed to complete. We fully decided on everything we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it. We have been editing the video and putting all of our videos together, that we have recorded, we just need to finish one more part and it’s our part so it shouldn’t take too long. We just need to add a couple more things and say a couple more things but other than that it’s been good.I think our video is going to turn out pretty good it’s definitely not going to be perfect but I think it’s going to be the best that we can do and I am pretty happy with the outcome of the video that we have made and I had a lot of fun making it And interviewing all the different people and learning a bunch of new stuff Also, seeing all the different views from all the different levels of athletic trainers, and how they view their job and what their favorite and least favorite pirates, how about athletic training is and just about my major athletic training.

  15. Over the last almost two weeks my group has been working on filming all of our interviews. One part that took us a little longer was finding a good place to be the news station, a place that looked professional enough for us to be able to pass it off as a news station, but without it being in a classroom because those are easily recognizable. We also ended up comparing schedules so we could find a day and time when we could just film the bulk of our video and interviews. After we finished filming I gathered all the clips and formatted them into a video. Although I did the bulk of the editing my partners also gave me input and good ideas on how to add or change things and we also talked about how we wanted the video to flow and the order we wanted the clips to be in. There aren’t very many challenges that come to mind, making sure the audio sounded the same throughout the clips was likely the biggest challenge but had a simple fix. Overall I really like how our video came out and I really enjoyed this project

  16. Since our last class, my group got together to film our talk show. We were able to find an empty room with a lectern and a table with some chairs, which helped enhance the realism of our presentation. We prepared ourselves by practicing our outline, then we set up our phones to record and got started. Once we were finished, I gathered all of the film so that I could begin editing our final video. I think that the editing really brought our project to life. Before, it was just a recording of us chatting about our majors, but now it feels like a more complete talk show. I was able to include our interview that Frankie did with Emily Estell, as well as various camera angles, music, and credits. I feel that my group did a great job tackling this project together, and we should be proud of the video we created.

  17. In between our last class and today, my group made our final product of our video, which meant filming and editing and uploading. We met in the Marcil building right outside of our normal class, and filmed our tv show. Then Melanie and I edited it, and I uploaded it to YouTube so we could all have the link. I had a lot of fun working on this project with my group and I hope everyone likes our final product.

  18. Over the past two weeks, my partner and I have really worked to solidify what we were going to say as well as making sure we had the timing right as well. We went through our scripts multiple times to make sure we reached our time limit and didn’t go over, which was a little difficult. In order for our speech to work we did have to cut two of our interviews otherwise the whole project was going to be wayyyy too long and even though we are a couple minutes over the time limit we did keep everything that we thought was going to be essential to our video in order to have everybody understand the program in the way that we wanted people to. Overall I think the video is going to go very well. We spent a lot of time on it and hoping that people will enjoy it as much we enjoyed working on it and finding our new information about our program.

  19. This week we met up at the cloud lounge at the campus center and started recording our talk show. We had a lot of retakes and editing our script so that we could get all the info we needed into the time limit as well as our segments. We were able to use the decor around us to make it look as if it really was a talk show. I enjoyed that part a lot because it made things feel a little bit more real. We had little improv moments and jokes to make it more entertaining and feel like a real show. I wasn’t able to go around and help with the segments because of housing, but I think all of us did an incredible job and I’m happy with the product that we made. I hope that everyone enjoys it.

  20. We got tons of filming, editing, and complete portions of the product done this week. Our dry-run was a little lack luster but gave us a really good idea of where we stood in terms of growth and time and content. After getting feedback about comedy, we tried to make the presentation a little looser but still keeping the information of our majors and trying to make it more like TV, even if it is just for class. Shooting the video with Tara was so much fun and I think it turned out pretty well.
