  1. We have been working together to come up with an idea of how our 4 majors can work together to create a cohesive, educational, and natural conversation between us. We have had a bit of a hard time finding the overlap between our medical based majors and our marine science based major but we have seemed to find a good direction with the concept of women in STEM since we all have a lot of similarities in biology and mathematic studies. We are all at a good place in our studies to do this as we have similar prerequisites that we have to take right now and can relate to each other with. We have had some trouble getting together in person which has made things a bit harder but we have been working on a shared document to bounce ideas back and forth. We also have a group chat that we have been communicating in to make sure we are all on the same page. Next week we plan to make sure we can meet at least twice in person to discuss our presentation/speech and so that we can do more practice with each other and get a feeling for how we all present. Overall, we have done a good job working together and have had great communication, our inability to find a time to meet in person this week was certainly not for lack of trying or commitment, it was really just bad luck which is why next week we have made sure we will meet in person as we know it is crucial for our development of our presentation.

  2. For speech 4, my group and I have been planning out how we want to do our speech. For us, we are working out all the small details like if we think that it should be more formal or informal, or if we want it scripted or more of a natural flow. We have a shared document, where we have been writing down all our ideas. I think that we have a great start on how we are going to incorporate all of our majors into the speech. I also think we have been doing a good job of bouncing our ideas off of each other and building off each other ideas. I think one thing we are struggling with is trying to find a time to meet that works for all of us. However, we have come up with the idea if one person can not meet we can meet multiple times a week to make sure that we all at least get to meet with the group once a week. We have a really goof idea about how we are going to present the speech and how we want to go about it as a group, but we are definitely working on all the small details but those will come when we meet in person.

  3. We have been working on drafting the outline for our video. Since all three of us have the same majors we quickly decided that we wanted to do the news Broadcast format for the video. We were able to meet up and discuss how we wanted to go about this. We shared many ideas back and forth and decided that we were going to have a reporter, news anchor, 2 pre-pharmacy students, and a professional. We are going to have the reporter interview all of these people and have the news anchor discuss some fun facts about pharmacy. We met up to discuss our ideas out loud, however we also have a shared document and have each been adding information to our specific parts. The hardest part was just coming up with what questions to ask each person and not asking too many but also asking enough so that the audience was fully informed.

  4. over the past week we have met up to discuss how we will be formatting our project. we decided to chose a news broadcast to display our project. we assigned roles for the video. we have a news anchor(me) , a news reporter(Taryn), and Josephine is going to act as a student getting interviewed by the reporter we are also going to ask another student in our major a few questions as an interview to get a different perspective. we opened up a shared google doc to compose our first outline draft. we have the backbone of our speech done we just need to work on answering the interview questions as well as interview our faculty advisor as a part of our broadcast. we are all the same major so coming up with ideas/ providing the answers to the questions has been easy, the hardest part was coming up with the actual questions and deciding who to ask what question.

  5. For Speech 4, my group and I have been in communication. In class we created a shared document and discussed what type of formatting our project would be, we landed on a talk show. We wanted the freedom to make our project a little funny and comical. Brady is the show host, and Frankie and I are the guests. We will be appearing as D3 athletes from the University of New England on the show. We have also created a shared document and started by writing down questions to Brady can ask us and figuring out how to incorporate his major along with ours. Mine and Frankies Majors are similar and we got into them for similar reasons as well which makes it a bit easier to talk about collectively. We are planning on meeting before class to go over everyone parts and have been studying them on our own as well. I think the hardest part is just finding times that work with everyone to meet but we are managing to make it work.

  6. After our group met in class we were able to get a lot of things done. We figured out the type of project we were going to go for as well as the parts we were going to play in it. I feel like we did really well coming up with ideas for this presentation. I created a Google doc where we have started our script for our dry dry run this Wednesday. Our host will be asking us lots of questions so we were able to get down what those questions were. I have answered the questions so far and am still adding details as well. We are planning to meet up in person before the next class to almost finalize our speech so that we are ready to go for our dry dry run. We need to go over how long our speech is with what we have as well as make sure that we incorporate every major into the project.

  7. My group and I met for a bit on Monday and had a pretty good discussion. We set up the outline for our project, and some of the smaller details too, like who would be the host of our show, the order of our interviews, and what questions I can ask as the host in case conversation dies down. We set a time to meet next week, and decided what we want to cover at our next meeting as well. I am really looking forward to putting together our project and getting to edit it all together. I am also really excited to see what everyone else has been working on and see all the final products.

  8. This past week my partners and I have continued to work on our outline and put together a more concrete idea of how our speech 4 is going to look. We all met up last Friday afternoon for a few hours to talk about ideas we all had for the project and to iron out the details of speech 4, like who was going to be the news anchor, the reporter, and who we were going to interview. We also came up with all of the questions we would be asking each person we do a short interview with. And we pretty much have everything planned out and are ready to do our best with this last speech. We also have now set a time to interview a professional this week and an interview lined up with another student in our major for next week, during that time we will also film all the other parts needed for our final film. We are looking forward to giving everyone some insight into how the pharmacy program at UNE works and what we as members of the program see ourselves doing in the future.

  9. In order to work on speech four, my group and I have met up in person to discuss all of our ideas as well as any questions that we had. Then, we put together a basic script trying to connect all 3 of our majors together. I think that was probably the hardest struggle along with trying to be creative while writing the script. Since one of the majors are different than the other 2, It was a little difficult trying to connect them together but we found a way to Segway into each major. We wanted to try to make it creative and funny but it kind of felt a little forced, so we also worked on ways to try to make the tv show more comedic but also information about the three majors. Once we got all of the ideas down on a google doc, it got easier and everything started to flow together and make more sense. I feel that there is definitely more to add but for a rough draft of the speech, I think it’s really good.

  10. This past week my partners and I have been working on our outline and what we want our talk show to sound like. We have met up in person so we were able to brainstorm all together and also have a shared doc so we can work on it alone if needed. The talk show is a little hard to write because talking about majors can be a bit of a boring subject. We are trying to make our talk show interesting enough that it doesn’t bore everyone just talking about majors. We have been working really well together so that makes it a lot easier. We definitely are going to keep working at making this talk show better!

  11. Since the last class, we have been in contact as a group a lot. We made a shared doc outlining what we want our speech 4 to look like. In the shared doc, we filled in specific more indiviualistic parts. We had a pretty strong idea of what we wanted to do last class, so we did not have to iron out any of the major parts, like who was going to be the reporter and who was going to be the anchors, but we did decide what each was going to say when. Additionally, we also met as a group in the commons. This is when we thought of the ideas that we put in the outline. Everyone in the group has done their job and their part in the speech. I think that our speech needs a lot of work, but we have a solid outline right now. This will be helpful towards the dry dry run that we have in class.

  12. Since last class, we have been working on the structure and format of our talk show. We landed on a Q&A between a host and two guests before leaving class, and so we have been brainstorming questions to ask that are related to our majors on a shared doc. The most important thing we’ve been working on is making sure to incorporate all three of our groups majors, which could be a challenge for a Q&A, because the host will be asking the questions. The best way to do this is by trying to make the show flow like a natural conversation, so that the host is also talking about their major. We have some notes and a script to work off of for our “dry-dry-run” next class, which will help us feel out the format and help us decide what we want to include in our video.

  13. Journal 15
Since last class me and my partner have been really busy but we have definitely found time to work. We have been working on who we want to talk to and the things we want to talk to them about. We have also been working on our script for our video and making it the best we can. We want to make sure it’s not dry and it has some humor and life to the video. We are still trying to come up with some things and ideas for some stuff on how to do certain things or what way we want to come about these things. We have discussed who is going to talk to who and who is going to say what during the video. I think our video is going to turn out really well. We haven’t really been able to put a video together for this week because we have been busy and the people we want to interview have been busy with sports so their schedule is more busy than areas. But once we piece everything together I think it will end up being really good and I can’t wait to watch all the other groups’ videos.

  14. I think our group is definitely working together as best as we can. We were able to discuss our schedules and find a time that we can all sit down and talk the project out. We decided that the talk show format is the best format for us to follow because it is something we are all comfortable doing and we almost immediately agreed on it. I think one big obstacle is that so far, we’ve had one person missing from every meeting, so it has been difficult for us to actually collectively agree on things. Many different things have been coming up that is preventing all four of us from meeting as a whole. I do believe we are really good about communicating these issues with each other and being flexible with any changes that may pop up. I think we do have a format that is tangible and fair for all of us to follow, and I think as long as we memorize our lines and work on our improv techniques, I think we will be ok. Hopefully we can have a cohesive and teamwork induced process.

  15. My group has been communicating over the last week to coordinate times to meet and how we want to go about this project. While we had some difficulty meeting with schedules, we were fortunately able to find a time where a few of us could meet. Going forward, we plan to meet more often so that this comes together nicely. I think we are in a good spot, but we still have details to figure out. When we met, we talked about how we wanted to incorporate each of our majors and what direction we wanted to take. We thought of questions we planned to ask each other and ideas of how we could make it interesting. In addition to meeting in person, we have a shared document where we have been jotting ideas down. I think working on our parts on our own time is important, but also meeting in person to develop the script and practice will help this project come together as we continue to bounce ideas off of each other throughout this process.

  16. Me and my group met in person so that we could talk about how we were going to connect our majors. This was a little difficult because our majors are very different from each other and only have small similarities. We made a basic script and plan on making it more entertaining later on so that it doesn’t bore people and actually interests them. We also have a shared document so that we can all edit the script together whenever we want to. I think that we have a good idea and structure so far for the script but later on we need to work on making it flow and not sound so robotic. We also have to come up with a talk show name and where we are going to record this.

  17. In this speech 4 we met each other and talked about how we are going to present this speech and who is going to speak what part and also we discussed how each of us is going to present the speech. In Our speech we are going to talked about our 4 major and also how they connected to each other. But in this process 4th member of our group was not present in our meeting so we wasn’t able finial each other’s role and was not able to discuss with her about our speech but luckily she came back early and we able to talk to with her and able to explain what we did in our meeting and told her what she need to do in the speech. Also we shared google documents with each other so we can shared our comment thoughts.

  18. Since last class my partner and I have been pretty busy between school work, sports, and work but we have put a couple days each week aside for us to work on the project. We know we want to do a talk show but we have leaned more towards a Q&A talk show asking questions to people at different places of the profession. We are still working on narrowing down the amount of people that we plan on interviewing but so far we have decided on at least two out of the options we came up with. We already came up with at least 5 different questions we could ask people regarding to the major and how their experiences are all different so we can see different aspects to this major and see where people could go after graduating. I think the hardest part is going to be finding a time to talk to everybody and record them to make our video. For this week we came up with our entire script other than the responses that people are going to be giving us but we did not make our video for this week because most of our guests didn’t have much spare time this past week but have all told us that they have spare time in the next week or two so we will be able to get everything done.

  19. since last class my group and I met up at the commons on Tuesday to discuss our project. We mutually agreed to do a news cast and decided me and stella would be the anchors, and Kassidy would be in the filed interviewing students across campus. She will interview students and ask questions about their major, and then stella and I back in the studio will discuss our majors as well.

  20. Since our last class, our group met up and finalized what we would be doing for our speech and a very rough outline of how we wanted it to go. We all agreed on what roles each person would be fulfilling during this project. Because we are doing the news broadcast I will be the person in the field and will be interviewing students on the campus. Unsure if I want to interview people with the majors we are talking about or different majors and ask their opinions on the majors we are talking about.
